ABOUT US:

Flywheel Research is an evolution of the investment research process.  Providing a rewarding environment for Contributing Members aligns with our ultimate goal: to deliver a research database on individual securities that is equal to or better than the internal research database of a leading buy-side fund.  We build upon the collective brainpower in arenas such as FinTwit (Finance Twitter), but we organize the discussion within a centralized platform dedicated to investment research.  This allows us to go into far more depth and contributing members are incentivized to improve the collective understanding of an investment.  We welcome all investment styles (value, growth, quality, L/S, special sit, debt etc) because good investing is defined by discipline & rigor, not a style box.

Our Contributing Members (aka Investment Partners) have all had their quality of work vetted by an application process.  Our Investment Partner members are an accomplished bunch, with backgrounds ranging from: pedigree from some of the best buy-side funds and best universities in the world, forward-thinking PMs (both established funds and emerging managers), hedge fund analysts, authors of investment research portals (e.g. on Substack), promising early career analysts, and individual investors with a special talent for deep research and/or investment judgment.  Our founder, James, is a highly active Contributing Member and has designations such as: MBA (attended Chicago Booth on a merit scholarship),  B.S.Engineering (University of Michigan), and is a CFA Charterholder.  He has 12 years of buy-side experience, including 10 years at Harris Associates (Oakmark Funds), where he was a Senior International Investment Analyst -- a wonderful, formative, and successful experience.  He now manages his own fund.  He also has 4 years of Engineering/Technology experience at GE-Aviation, where he was a Combustion Design Engineer and won the GE-Aviation Young Engineer of the Year Award for writing code to solve a flame shape distortion problem.  This engineering/technology background helps augment Flywheel's pace of innovation.

Contributing Members get more FREE ACCESS to research, management calls, private projects, and can now GET PAID in exchange for being consistently insightful within the platform or otherwise adding to our inertia.  As users of the platform ourselves, we take a member's perspective.  So, we will also offer unique technology and unique opportunities to our Investment Partner members.
Flywheel Research is intended for investment professionals, top tier independent investors, institutional allocators, investment advisors, aspiring investment professionals, software developers with a strong interest in investing, and subject matter experts from elsewhere outside the investing world with a strong interest in investing.  We welcome you to apply to become a Contributing Member here.  We have found a win-win for those who cannot become Contributing Members (for a variety of reasons) via Paid Access here. We are betting that Paid Members will agree that Flywheel's emphasis on the Contributing Member experience aligns with the goals of Paid Members -- everyone is here for the high quality research.
